the park

over the weekend we had some amazing weather. i have been warned that i shouldn’t rub this int he faces of our devoted fans, but it couldn’t help it. bryan was meeting some friends to climb some rocks so henry and i tagged along. it was kind of hilly, so i couldn’t really let henry run around on his own and snap pictures. but i think these close ups are so cute. and pictures look so much better when you have outdoor light! gah!

Happy Long(ish) Weekend

It was a wonderfully long and busy weekend.  Friday Bryan and I got dinner at Zebulon with Sean and some new Rapleafers and watched then tv at home(with sean!). bed somewhat early!

Saturday we woke up and met some people at the climbing gym.  We were there for about 2.5 hours – our longest climb yet.  It was great because we bought our very own climbing gear last week and I finally got to use mine.  I tried to get Bryan to pose for a picture in his climbing outfit (cargo short, random ihs t shirt, harness & shoes) but he refused.  sorry, amigos.  Whole foods for groceries and lunch, home for shower and rest.  Then dinner at Cristina’s.  She served salmon fajitas, salad and ginger lemonade.  Then we went to Amnesia to listen to one of her friends dj. We got in free!  and left early!  because we are old people and get sleepy fast.

Sunday we were off to see the latest Indiana Jones installment. Then to Borders for books for our vacation.  Then home for a nap.  We ended up hanging out with some of Sean’s friends, playing wii.  Then we joined them for Korean BBQ dinner at Han Il Kwan, one of the best and most fun restaurants I have been to.  It is like a cross between hibachi and fondue.  Then bed for more sleep!

Monday:  more climbing and Whole Foods for lunch.  Bryan and I both spent a little time at work.  I stopped at Target on my way home.  I love that store.  Then I made up a recipe for dinner, had Sean over. And now all three of us are in our living room, on our computers, with Deadliest Catch on tv.

P.S. we went to a picnic organized by Sean & Irene last weekend.  I took a few pictures and put them on our flickr account, if you want to take a look.

I Apologize

I know, I know. I promised an update on last weekend last Sunday. This was kind of a bad week for us. I got sick on Tuesday and it wrecked all our other plans.

So here is the update:

Last Friday Bryan and I got invited to an Oakland A’s game.  My company has season tickets, and one of my co workers got them.  So she invited me and Bryan. We hoped on the BART (our subway system), only to find out the the A’s were playing the CLEVELAND INDIANS.  I have never been so excited to see the Indians play in my life.  It was awesome.  Except that is was cold.  But our seats were fifth row back behind third base.  And the corn dog I had for dinner was delicious.  The same cannot be said for the hot dog Bryan opted to get.  We left early in the 8th inning, cause it was cold and Cleveland was getting beat pretty bad.

Saturday, Bryan and I woke up early and got to the climbing gym. I decided that I was going to climb every 5.9 there. I did 7 out of 12 because I was tired and wanted to get lunch. Bryan did some 5.10a’s. We are so very proud of him. Then we came home, ate, showered and I went to get my hair cut. I got charged entirely too much for a hair cut that was done in like 20 minutes and involved very little actual cutting. I think the shampoo took longer than the actual cut. But whatev – I learned my lesson.  And I do think my hair looks great :) . Then Bryan and I met up for a little shopping. I wanted him to get a new bathing suit for this summer and I wanted him to put to use some of his Christmas gift cards. Then we saw Leatherheads(which was good) and met up with Sean for dinner in North Beach.

Sunday we woke up pretty early and headed North to Point Reyes for a hike with Sean and some of his friends. It was a BEAUTIFUL day! I mean so perfect. And our hike was centered around the bay at Point Reyes, so there was pretty scenery and so much nature. Here are some of Sean’s photos from that day:

pretty flowers

can you tell which foot stepped into a puddle of mud?

spy vs spy

i can’t remember what I said here, but I said something that was maybe slightly degrading – like he was being a baby about the cold or something.  then I tried to hug him and make it better.  It must have worked.

Jam Packed

Bryan and I had a very full weekend. Needless to say, it has taken me a bit to recover enough to document it here.

Friday night was kid of a bust. We had made plans to go to the climbing gym with some other people, but plans fell through. I ended up watching dvr on the couch. Bryan went bouldering alone, so we each kind of had the perfect night.

Saturday I worked while Bryan had a work related meeting. Then Sean joined us for dinner ( i made tilapia, rice, and veggies) and then a play called “The Book of Liz”. It was written by Amy and David Sedaris, which is what piqued my attention. Also, the tickets were cheap and the theater was less than half a mile from our apartment.

Sunday we got up early and spent a couple hours climbing. It was pretty nice and we are getting kind of good at it. Then we joined Sean and some of his friends from Cal (Berkley) for a hike somewhere near the campus. It worked out pretty perfect because the weather was just perfect for us to be comfortable and the views and scenery were pretty spectacular. Bryan and I have decided we want to try to make the hiking thing a new constant, since i no longer have to work on the weekend. Below are some pictures Sean took. You can also see our photos on our flickr account.

Easter Sunday

We hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday weekends.  Ours was super easy and relaxing.  Saturday, I worked until about 2 and then we went grocery shopping.  Bryan spent much of the night preparing for the presentation he has this week.

Bryan and I woke up Sunday, spent about 2 hours at the climbing gym, ate lunch at home and then went to the park to lay under the trees and read.  I made pasta for dinner and we watched tv.  I also cleaned a little and did some crafty stuff around the apartment.

Ain’t Going Nowhere

It’s been an unfortunately long time since we updated and I realize this kind of behavior is inexcusable.  But one has to understand, we really haven’t been doing very much lately that is blog-recording worthy.

San Francisco is continuing to get pelted by rain and we are almost constantly being warned of the possibility of floods and resulting damage.  This makes it difficult to do anything, but sit around and lament being stuck inside.  In addition, its busy season again and I have to work most evenings and Saturdays.

In somewhat sunny news, though, Bryan and I had a monumental Sunday.  We got up first thing and went rock climbing, as per our usual weekend routine.  After about 3 months of seeing our pretty faces every weekend and taking one belay test after another (belay testing is basically the staff at the gym testing us to make sure we tie into the rope correctly so that we don’t fall and hurt ourselves during the climbing process), we finally received our belay cards!  This means we don’t have to waste 20 minutes every time we climb waiting for someone to be available to test our figure 8 follow throughs.  I also successfully climbed my first 5.9 (a rating of the difficulty of the climbing wall) and had my first real fall ( and first real injury from my first real fall).  Bryan kicked butt, too!!
